Rebirth

1–2 minutes

The radiant sun penetrated my face,
the freckles which had been dormant all winter
rising to the surface.

The sky was a sea of azure, its purity emptying
my head of thoughts that now seemed not to matter.

I breathed, truly breathed, for the first time in months.

I was unaware of my suffocation, unaware of the smog that had
invaded my lungs until I tasted fresh air.

Now, I bathe in its glory. Grateful for the oxygen that has
eluded me for too long

My rebirth has been long awaited, for I crave the taste of vivacity.
Let me burn even brighter than I did before.

All I ask is that I am not smothered once again.

Let me burn even brighter than I did before. – ‘Rebirth’ I never knew a piece of me was missing until it was ignited once more.
